Grahame is a proud Kokoberra/Kuku-Yalanji and Torres Strait Islander man who grew up in the Cairns area in North Queensland. His love for boxing began at the age of 15 when he snuck into a tournament, fought a 27-year-old competitor, and won. Encouraged by his parents after bringing home his first trophy, Grahame pursued the sport with dedication, training with experienced coaches and competing against senior fighters. His first amateur fight in 1993 marked the beginning of a career spanning over three decades, highlighted by achievements such as training for the Olympics, winning Queensland and Australian titles, and earning Golden Gloves honors in high-level amateur competitions.

In his late 30s, Grahame faced a life-threatening event that left him in an induced coma for five weeks, followed by two years of intensive rehabilitation. This pivotal moment reshaped his outlook on life. Inspired by his nephew’s interest in boxing, Grahame began coaching him for high-level competition, sparking a renewed purpose and passion. His coaching naturally extended to mentoring other young boxers, creating a legacy of inspiring the next generation.

Grahame also led a program for incarcerated youth aged 17 to 20, using boxing to teach discipline, build self-esteem, and instill responsibility. His efforts helped many young people find a path to becoming positive role models in their communities. Seeking greater opportunities for elite boxers, Grahame relocated to Southeast Queensland and, in 2018, opened the current Stingray Boxing gym in Redcliffe.

Today, Grahame continues to share his passion and expertise, offering box fit classes, personal training, and boxing sessions for all ages. His work focuses on building strength, confidence, and resilience in his students, while providing teenagers with the tools to develop basic boxing skills and a healthier lifestyle.
